(Note: this is a rough draft and still undergoing revisions.)

Welcome, esteemed colleagues, to a comprehensive exploration of one of the most perplexing and confounding systems known to mankind: the United States political system.

Drawing from years a few a couple of weeks of research, and kind of rigorous analysis (a caffeine binge helped), this thesis aims to explain the intricate workings of our political structure.

But don’t worry, this isn’t your typical dry academic fare. No, this is an explanation designed for those of us who’ve lived through enough election cycles to know that the carousel never really stops spinning (I like the carousel comparison, just came to me). So, buckle up, colleagues, we’re about to embark on a journey that will clarify precisely how and why the political system is much like a circus ride—head-spinning, and breathtaking.

The political system, or as it will be referenced in this legendary valued handily-crafted doctoral thesis, “The Great Carousel of Democracy” (Title change, better?), is a complex and ever-spinning apparatus. It is designed to give the illusion of forward motion while often leaving us dizzy, disoriented, and questioning our life choices—such as why we thought it was a good idea to hop on in the first place.

But fear not, for this thesis will not only explain how this system works but . . (I’m still searching for something that follows the “but,” but it’ll come to me.) Yes, I will attempt to make sense of the madness and offer up what I can best describe as navigating the seemingly endless loops and sharp turns of politics.

Now, you might be wondering, “Where do ethics and integrity fit into all this?”

Well, imagine you’re on the carousel, spinning faster and faster, and someone hands you a map. It’s a guide to understanding how the ride works—except, the map’s been drawn by someone who doesn’t really care if you get off at the right stop. That’s where ethics come in. Integrity, my friends, is the map that keeps us from getting lost in the dizzying chaos of political machinations. It’s the only thing that can help us make sense of the madness, especially when it feels like everything is spinning out of control!

Sure, you might end up upside down at times, but at least with a bit of integrity (varying from person to person), you’ll know you’re not just spinning in circles for the fun of it. In this thesis, we’ll explore how, despite all the noise and confusion, ethical values are what help us get through the ride without losing our moral compass—or our lunch.

This is as far as I’ve gotten.

  1. “Our Political System for Dummies” might be more appropriate?
But stop the presses, not only how the system works but… attempt to make sense of it all? And in one reading?
Can’t wait for this final draft!
