Dinner at Eight

Okay, boys and girls, here’s today’s ethical dilemma.

You attend a Gala fundraising event for a non-profit group in your community.  While walking through the entrance your hand is stamped for what turns out to be access to an exclusive, after-event, dinner party.  You’d like to attend, but you paid $70.00 to attend the Gala and the dinner party costs $500.

After discovering the mistake, a couple of friends, members of the organization, tell you not to worry about attending the party because there are several no-shows.  However, the purpose of the event is to raise money for a community project which you support.

What do you do?

This is a good example of the kinds of relatively simple, yet ethical situations that many of us get caught in from time to time.  In fact, this is based on something that happened to me!

I’d like to hear your response to this question or a story about a similar situation.

I will reveal how I responded next week.
