Columbia University, House of Representatives, and the New York trial of former president Donald Trump: Pick a topic, and you will see what utter chaos looks like.

Pro-Palestinian protestors not only defied Columbia University’s order yesterday to dismantle their encampments on the New York campus but assaulted and seized a building, Capitol building-style. All classes on the campus have been closed.

House Democratic leaders have vowed to support Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson if extremist Republicans call for a floor vote to remove him.

“We will vote to table Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Motion to Vacate the Chair. If she invokes the motion, it will not succeed,” Democratic leaders wrote in a statement.

Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene’s response: Johnson should “resign” or “switch parties.”

Responding to the rumor that Johnson cut a deal with Democrats, he stated, “The first I have heard of it. I’ve not requested assistance from anyone … I’m not focused on that at all. I focused on getting the job done and getting the legislation passed.”

The most significant news coming out of the New York trial of Donald Trump: New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan has held the former president in contempt for violating the court’s gag order whereby Trump is bared from saying anything or posting on social media anything about jurors, witnesses, their families, and families of prosecutors, and the judge.

Merchan fined Trump $1,000 for 9 violations of the order thus far. “The court finds the people have met their burden of proof and have demonstrated contempt.”

Merchan also warned Trump of “incarceratory punishment” if he continued.

What’s worse is the utter cynicism spreading like a wildfire in the country.
